Matthew 9, 14-15

Matthew 9, 14-15-fb

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9, 14-15

The disciples of John approached Jesus and said,
“Why do we and the Pharisees fast much,
but your disciples do not fast?”
Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn
as long as the bridegroom is with them?
The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them,
and then they will fast.”

Fasting is renouncing to something

1) Fasting.  This means to do without something. It refers not only to food, but other aspects, like fasting from the use of the cell phone or watching TV programs. Fasting helps you realize you can lead a simpler life without those things.

2) Not to be tied down. Lent gives you the opportunity to become aware that you have created superfluous needs that you can do without. They are not essential in your life, and most probably, tie you down; they don’t allow your spiritual growth.

3) To find the bridegroom. This is the time to come back to God, and remove from our soul and our mind everything that does not come from God. Today´s objective is to meditate upon a station of the Cross, of the Way of the Cross. I will meditate on “Jesus falls” so that I may remember that He fell, but He got up. Do you want to get up? Be strong and get up, let’s get up together.

Which station will you reflect on?

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Never forget that Heaven is our goal!
