John 16, 5-11

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 16, 5-11

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Now I am going to the one who sent me,
and not one of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts.
But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go.
For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you.
But if I go, I will send him to you.
And when he comes he will convict the world
in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation:
sin, because they do not believe in me;
righteousness, because I am going to the Father
and you will no longer see me;
condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.”

Justice in God

1) Don’t be sad. Today Jesus reminds us that we cannot be saddened by the circumstances that strike us and complicate our lives. We should face the present and from the here-and-now, look towards the future. If we constantly look at the future forgetting the present, we lose both of them -present and future – and we lose our inner peace.

2) Justice. We all seek, and we all want justice. It is important to remember that justice is a grace given to us by God, but it also involves a struggle; it requires maturity and respect. Justice is not using things to our own advantage; it implies seeking what is fair for everyone and not only what suits us.

3) When He comes. We know that our life is walking together until Jesus comes the second time. Our hope is placed on the coming of Christ. What can be better than being with Him? Don’t lose hope because Christ is alive. He never abandons you. Nourish your hope in Jesus and with Jesus. He will never forsake you. He is Life and Truth.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Don’t forget that Heaven is our goal!
