John 6, 52-59

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel according to Saint John 6, 52-59

The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me.”

God feeds you

1) Life. You are called to have life in you, to live and to enjoy life. A Christian has life in Christ through the sacraments, through prayer, through works of charity. Try to take care of these gifts in your daily life, do not give yourself to death, give yourself to life.

2) My flesh. Nourishing yourself with Jesus is a great joy. In the Eucharist you discover that God wants to satisfy you with Christ’s flesh and blood and to satiate you with His love. Nourish yourself with God.

3) Communion. This is something we should pray to God for today. Why is it so hard for us to be in communion, to form a real community? There are times when we do not seek the Lord’s healing spiritual communion. Our actions can lead us to forget our brothers and sisters. Let us ask God for the gift of communion.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And don’t forget that Heaven is our goal.
