Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9, 28b-36
Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up a mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.
To be Transfigured
1) In prayer. If there is something we always find in Luke, the Evangelist, is that in all crucial moments, when Jesus has to make a decision, He prays, He speaks with God and presents his reality before his Father God. This is what you can do today, write or talk to God, bring your reality before the Lord and tell Jesus what is going through your mind and your heart. Show God an analysis of your reality without fear and without prejudice, because, in order to be helped, without any excuses you should say “Lord: this is my reality, this is what I am”. Talk to God and tell Him everything. Let us not reduce prayer to requests or thanks, though these are certainly part of praying. Today, I suggest you should talk to God and tell him everything about you.
2) Moses and Elijah. There is an inner law which you must remember and respect, and it’s that ‘God’s will does not go against your happiness, it is a step towards it’. Your walk towards the happiness that God puts in your path is also marked by limits, it’s like pruning a plant so that new and beautiful stems and fruit come out. That law is imprinted in your heart, and you must listen to it before every decision. But also, remember that your life is a prophecy for others. You are not a prophet who preaches in parks with the Bible under your arm, you are a prophet who touches hearts with your testimony and example, in a personal, fraternal and close encounter.
3) Tents. Don’t settle for three tents, because you are reminded that your life points to eternity, that you and I will go through passion and cross, but the key to everything is Heaven. Give your all to achieve this, and when the cross comes your way, remember we already know the end, and that is Heaven.
God bless you and be with you, in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And don’t forget, Heaven is our goal!
