Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 14, 1, 7-11
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees,
and the people there were observing him carefully.
He told a parable to those who had been invited,
noticing how they were choosing the places of honor at the table.
“When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet,
do not recline at table in the place of honor.
A more distinguished guest than you may have been invited by him,
and the host who invited both of you may approach you and say,
‘Give your place to this man,’
and then you would proceed with embarrassment
to take the lowest place.
Rather, when you are invited,
go and take the lowest place
so that when the host comes to you he may say,
‘My friend, move up to a higher position.’
Then you will enjoy the esteem of your companions at the table.
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Humility leads you to great things
1) Attentively. This is how those who were disturbed by Jesus looked at him. They were watching everything he said and did. In life there are people that do not like us. They pay attention to us just to see how we act, how we behave, to see if we make a mistake. But let us follow the example of Jesus. Be transparent and simple, always living life in the truth. Jesus did not try to show off just to please others.
2) Invitation. There will be moments and situations that make you grow. You will have opportunities to become men and women of greatness, or men and women of conceit. Do not let these invitations or opportunities make you dizzy with pride! Learn to handle the different situations life casts at you. Like Saint Paul said, ”I have lived in abundance and I have lived in poverty.” Accept the invitations and make them opportunities.
3) The last. It is humility that makes you grow in life. When you are humble, God, with his grace, will always take you up to the front row. Time will show how those who are humble earn the real first place; on the other hand, those who are proud and conceited, and believe they are untouchable and above others, will fall and fall hard! In humility we can achieve everything!
God bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember that Heaven is our goal.
