Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10, 21-24
At that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’
Then turning to the disciples, Jesus said to them privately, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.’
Rejoice in God
1) Filled with joy. How important it is that you might reflect on the beautiful moments you have experienced in your life this year! Look back on those struggles that you faced and those that you overcame. I know there’s a long way ahead in your life but try to look at your achievements so far. Consider your measurable achievements like getting fit, being able to quit smoking, controlling your temper, among others. Today, celebrate these little victories and thank God for His company. What tiny concrete achievements would you like to thank God for today?
2) The little ones, the childlike. These phrases refer to the awareness of our need of God and our complete trust in Him. We are simply forgiven sinners who strive in life day by day. We know we cannot face life on our own and we need help from God. The greatness of our life is in recognizing our limits and our needfulness. Do not become self-centered! Learn to recognize your mistakes and limits. Is it so difficult to say, “It was my fault”; “you’re right”; “I was wrong”; “I don’t know”? Do you always have to show off or to have the last word? That doesn’t come from God! There are times when we blame others, and we even victimize ourselves. Today God embraces you as his little son or daughter. Go back to Him!
3) Happy and blessed. Today strive for more and take a step further in your life. Conquer your fears and battle against your shortcomings. Learn that happiness is not merely an emotion, it’s an attitude. Step it up. Put your heart into your life! Get rid of what does not help you move forward and fight for what is good for you. Be true to your values and be cautious.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Remember, Heaven is our goal!
