Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7, 21.24-27
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
Strong as rock
1) Those who say. Here Jesus is speaking about people who talk a lot but don’t do much, or someone who is “all talk and no action.” We have to be careful with this. Someone might have an M.A. in religion but if he talks too much, he might be considered conceited and annoying. You and I must be very careful because we can talk a lot, even beautifully about God. However, sometimes our actions do not reflect what we say. Remember, “actions speak louder than words.”
2) Those who do. This refers to those who are sensitive to the needs of our time and do things effectively. They are those brothers and sisters who are efficient, who go out to the streets to share the love of God everyday in simple ways. They’re those people who work quietly. Those who toil away in silence, never bragging about what they do. Whatever they do, they do for love and out of true conviction. Others just want to show off, but they are not acting out of love.
3) Rock. The rock is your connection with God. The rock is the key to making your life coherent. If you want a “rock-solid” faith, maintain a close relationship with God. Work on that ability to enter into deep communication with Christ and speak to Him, and above all, listen to Him.
Do you want to be a rock? Then pray, study, and become an active apostle of Christ. Prepare yourself during this time.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And remember, Heaven is Our Goal !
