Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 5, 27-32

Jesus saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, “Follow me.”
And leaving everything behind, he got up and followed him.
Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house,
and a large crowd of tax collectors
and others were at table with them.
The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples, saying,
“Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
Jesus said to them in reply,
“Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do.
I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.”

Follow me

1) Jesus saw a tax collector. A tax collector was considered a traitor, someone who was not accepted by society. When you are called, it’s God’s who chooses you first, it’s not the other way around. You must realize that Jesus put a seed in your heart and is inviting you to something new, to something different, to an adventure with Him. Learn to live life with Christ, and the key to this is that you give him space in your heart and in your life.

2) Levi. He is a tough guy, who seeks his own benefit, and, above all, he is interested in money. That’s the person who Jesus calls! We should remember those of us who are in the Church are neither models nor perfect. We are simply sinners who want to change and fill ourselves with God. We are forgiven sinners, chosen by God, because it had the desire to do so.

3) Follow me. God does not call those who are qualified, but He qualifies those He has called. Don’t forget that in order to follow him, God does not ask for your résumé, but He asks you to open your heart to him. He has something different for you. Have the courage to follow Him! God knows all your flaws and blemishes and, nevertheless, He continues to choose you.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Don’t forget that something good is on the way!
