Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5, 17-19

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letterwill pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandmentsand teaches others to do sowill be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandmentswill be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

To abide by the law

1. Compliance. There are times in life that the more we grow up, the more tricks we use. Instead of obeying the law, we find a way to escape from it or to bend it for our convenience. Life is marked by boundaries. There are rules and laws we must always keep, including the law of our conscience. So, we must examine if we abide by the law, we escape from it or we disguise ourselves to cheat it.

2. Jesus. Today Jesus comes to remind you that Christians must fulfil the law from our hearts and that Christianity must be lived by the rules that are set, and the way they are set; we cannot make them fit our convenience. Today consider in your heart if you assume your responsibility and what the law and rules imply.  Do you comply them or do you escape and hide from them?

3. The Kingdom of Heaven. We must be careful not to fall into any type of legalism, let’s not turn into people who become police officers of life, who follow a manual, a rule book and control who is obeying the law and who isn´t. There are times when many of the things that happen in life surprise you and you even surprise yourself, because life leads you to situations you never imagined. To reach the Kingdom of Heaven, each of your decisions must be made in the liberty of the children of God. Each day of your life faces you with choices and decisions you must make, and you must accept the responsibility. Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
