John 6, 22-29

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 6, 22-29

After Jesus had fed the five thousand men, his disciples saw him walking on the sea.
The next day, the crowd that remained across the sea
saw that there had been only one boat there,
and that Jesus had not gone along with his disciples in the boat,
but only his disciples had left.
Other boats came from Tiberias
near the place where they had eaten the bread
when the Lord gave thanks.
When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there,
they themselves got into boats
and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
And when they found him across the sea they said to him,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me
not because you saw signs

The miracle is that you are alive

1)  The work of God. If you become aware of everything there is around you, you will see miracles everywhere. Think of all the people that give testimony of the miracles in their lives. There is a video about the life of Tony Melendez who was born without arms. In the video we see that he met with Pope John Paul II and played his guitar for him, with his feet. Do you realize what he was able to do and the wonderful music he produced? His willingness and vision were spiritual, supernatural and he was able to compose and play songs for God and life. He mentions the fact that whenever he sees people with arms, he sees a miracle in each of them, for he was born without them.

2) You are a miracle. Jesus has done and is doing many things for you and through you. You must just become aware of all the work Jesus does. Don’t fear, God is holding your hand and you must discover how he is impacting your life, and the life of others through you without you realizing it. You are a key player in other people´s lives. Please understand this.

3) Following Jesus. The true following of Jesus is not a business transaction of ‘you give-I give you’ sort of kind. No! Following Jesus involves unconditional love, a love without any further interest. Following Jesus leads us to discover Him and His love. This in turn, leads us to fall in love with life and to see life as a miracle. Never forget that something good is on the way.

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
