Four poems of Faith

As a result of following, or trying to follow, the ways of God, I share these four texts that I have written over the last months, which I have boldly called poems. Thank you for reading them.

A ROSARY

Goes towards You

Comes from You.

Circles of kindness,

Traces of temperance.

And, She,

Gate,

Bridge,

Way,

To your open arms,

While the echoes of your teaching

Dance on our lips:

“Our Father who art…”

“Hail Mary…”

“Glory be to the…”

THE PASCHAL CANDLE

The waters of the heart

Stirring in the twilight.

The walls of reason crumble.

The pilgrim strays between the beginning and the end.

It is then that one’s gaze turns

To the lamb clothed with a robe of five wounds.

His crown is the fire of eternal light,

That vanishes the darkness of the spirit.

His flame kindles the resurrected hearts.

THE CROSS

Stripped throne

That pours out its grandeur

Before the eyes of Faith.

Lighthouse in the hours of anxiety,

You are the pilgrim’s refuge;

The wanderer’s blind desire;

The port where we moor

Our weaknesses,

Our endeavors.

Under the protection of Your praying body,

We gaze behind the gray evening veil,

The Father’s loving face,

The Mother’s sweet gaze.

THE TABERNACLE

A dim light

Is your loyal guardian.

That illuminates your small home

Where you wait, as alive,

As in the seas of Galilee

Or the hills of Jerusalem.

Silence is your constant companion.

Our prayers,

The visitor which you always await.
