Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5, 13-16
Jesus said to his disciples:
“You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father.”
You are light. Shine!
1) You are salt. Salt is for flavor. Of course, it must be the right amount; too little and the food will become bland … too much and it might cause hypertension! You have to put some flavor into life, but just the right amount. Excess is bad. You must learn that excesses do you no good. Learn to savor life so that your life gives flavor to those around you. It’s all about living life abundantly and joyfully, so that it is good to be near you and share things with you.
2) You are light. When you give flavor to life and you enjoy living, you become light. You light up everyone and everything around you and you know how to get rid of the darkness in others. We can’t give what we don’t have. Become aware of the light that’s in you and pass it on. I can assure you that you will eliminate the darkness in many people. I like to say that the electric socket is “helping others” and the power is “prayer”.
3) Shine! Don’t hide your light. Don’t believe what people say about you, believe what God says about you and remember what He has created you for. So come on, fight! You are a floodlight. Maybe those around you have made you believe you are just a small table lamp, but you are a bigger than that…you are a floodlight! Shine!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember that something good is on the way!
