Matthew 8, 1-4

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 8, 1-4

When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
And then a leper approached, did him homage, and said,
“Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.”
He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said,
“I will do it. Be made clean.”
His leprosy was cleansed immediately.
Then Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one,
but go show yourself to the priest,
and offer the gift that Moses prescribed;
that will be proof for them.”

God makes you clean

1. Being purified. This is what you look for in life: to get rid of your blemishes that make you feel uncomfortable. Look at what makes you feel uncomfortable and down in your life today. Purify your mind, so that you can fight for the things and processes that you have to go through. Do away with what doesn’t help you, those things weighing you down. I know it’s difficult, but it’s preferable to cry very hard one day than to suffer every day of your life.

2. God helps. It’s wonderful that God wants to help us! He knows that you need help, but you must come to Him to ask for help. He respects your freedom and invites you to ask him for what you need. So, ask Him; don’t get tired of begging him for the help you need. God hears your prayers. Today, don’t end your day without thanking him and asking him for what you need.

3. Fulfill.  You must accept your responsibilities. Remember that there are things that you have to do and must fulfill. You have a personal responsibility towards God. For example, going to mass on Sundays and days of obligation, placing the Word of God in your heart and proclaiming it with your life. Get started, stay strong and keep going…you can do it!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember that something good is on the way.
