Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 12, 38-42
Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus,
“Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.”
He said to them in reply,
“An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign,
but no sign will be given it
except the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights,
so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth
three days and three nights.
At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation
and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah;
and there is something greater than Jonah here.
At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation
and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth
to hear the wisdom of Solomon;
and there is something greater than Solomon here.”
Signs
1. Signs. In life, it is always necessary to discern. That is, to have the ability to know how to choose. We must go through a process in order to choose well, and in this process there must be prayer, signs, and dialogue. Prayer to ask God for clarity, noticeable signs that call your attention to guide you and help you along the way, and dialogue to talk about the matter with your spiritual guide or the person who accompanies you in life, since two heads are better than one.
2. Evil generation. There are times when we insist on something and demand our way. It is complicated when you only complain and there is nothing that can satisfy you. There are always obstacles that ruin your peace or happiness, and often, you yourself seek those problems. That is why today you are invited to open your eyes and look at life in a different way, to be able to live a plentiful life in which you strive for the better and not for the worse.
3) Prophets. In life, there are prophets that God puts along our way. There are people that come to us in order for us to react and change our ways. Christians are called upon to be light in other people’s lives and accompany others that need a little push in order to keep moving forward. We must help the people that have fallen. We are called to embrace the people that feel dirty and alone. St. Francis was not afraid to hug a leper. You should follow his example and not be afraid to hug and show your affection to others. Embrace and accompany your brothers and sisters who need healing and forgiveness. Embrace and accompany. This is what our society needs.
