Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 13,1-9
On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea.
Such large crowds gathered around him
that he got into a boat and sat down,
and the whole crowd stood along the shore.
And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying:
“A sower went out to sow.
And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path,
and birds came and ate it up.
Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil.
It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep,
and when the sun rose it was scorched,
and it withered for lack of roots.
Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it.
But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit,
a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.
Whoever has ears ought to hear.”
He went out to sow
1. The Sower. This is what you and I have been called to be: sowers. Plant the seed of joy in others. Sow in them the joy of knowing God. Our contribution in this world is to ‘plant’ something in those around us. What are you planting?
2. The Seed. There are different types of seeds, each requiring a certain moment to be planted, and time to mature. The quality of the seed is influenced by the fruit from which it has been taken. The stronger the seed, the better the chance it will have to produce a bounty. You will not be able to sow all the time. If you are tired, your ‘seed’ may not be mature enough for sowing. You must sow from your own experience, but you must also know when to sow. Learn to be patient in this endeavor. Your contribution must be strategic in the life of others.
3. Sowing. There are always challenges and risks when planting. Do not be afraid to sow because when the seeds fall properly, they will produce a beautiful harvest of souls. Sow! You will have risks and losses, but regardless of how little you sow, when you do it right the rewards will be great.
Never forget that something good is on the way!God bless you and be with you, in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
