Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 13, 44-52

Jesus said to his disciples:
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field,
which a person finds and hides again,
and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant
searching for fine pearls.
When he finds a pearl of great price,
he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous
and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.

“Do you understand all these things?”
They answered, “Yes.”
And he replied,
“Then every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven
is like the head of a household
who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.”

The hidden treasure

1. The search. God proposes that we should look for Him every day. Life itself is a search. Don’t worry because God has promised something greater. Look deep inside yourself and you’ll see there are clues to discover the treasure there is within you, the greatness that God has put in you and that will enrich your life.

2. Sell everything you have. When you find what gives meaning to your life and I repeat this, “what truly gives meaning to your life”, you must be willing to let go of something, to give up what doesn’t contribute positively to your life. It is a renunciation which allows you to see everything as nothing, compared to the treasure you have found, because that treasure makes your life, your being complete. That treasure you must find is the “Absolute”, it’s a “Person”, with capital P, who gives meaning to your life.

3. Process. We might talk of the “dynamics of life”. We search, find, leave aside, return, accept. To be able to search, you must return to yourself, to your essence. Not everything that you find in your search can be accepted instantly. There must be a process of discernment. You need to follow this process in order to achieve happiness. Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
