Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9,14-17

The disciples of John approached Jesus and said,
“Why do we and the Pharisees fast much,
but your disciples do not fast?”
Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn
as long as the bridegroom is with them?
The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them,
and then they will fast.
No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunken cloth,
for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse.
People do not put new wine into old wineskins.
Otherwise the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined.
Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”

The old and the new

1) They approached. The attitude of these disciples is very different from Jesus’ attitude. He goes out to encourage and heal, but these disciples go out to question. There are times when you and I stubbornly question and doubt others. I understand that sometimes there must be some distrust, but if you are suspicious of everyone and question everyone, it seems to me a little too much, because it takes away your peace. Don’t be a person who is always questioning and doubting others. Are you creating pleasant moments?

2) The bridegroom is present. I think it’s good that you should be able to consider your time and moments. Find the time and space to be with God and talk to Him. There are times when you will not feel like praying or finding a moment to be with God. But, you should look for those moments anyway. Spiritual life has those stages, periods when prayer and the things of God are done with great dedication and intensity, and moments when it becomes harder to talk to God.

3) New wineskins. Getting to know Jesus Christ marks a before and after in your life. Knowing Christ leads you to look at life in a different way and gives you opportunities.
