Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 13, 47-53

Jesus said to the disciples:
“The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous
and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”

“Do you understand all these things?”
They answered, “Yes.”
And he replied,
“Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven
is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom
both the new and the old.”
When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.

The Good and The Bad

1. Separate the good from the bad. It is necessary that you take time in your life to see what things you need to leave aside, and what things you need to keep. There are things that you have been keeping, or dragging along in your life, and the truth is that they do not do you any good. They do not help you to be happy. Just as there are material things that once were useful, but perhaps today are just junk; well, in your life, there may be “junk” thoughts or relationships that no longer help you; that do not contribute to your life.  There may be people in your life whose presence has become a harmful relationship, and you keep near them near you without even knowing why. On the other hand, of course, there are people who do you a lot of good and that you must take care of and maintain near you.

2. The bad. I’m referring to anything that leaves no positive contribution to your life. For example, you might ask yourself: “Does this person enrich my life? How?” And you should also be aware of the things that you keep in your life out of mere obsession or habit. We tend to cling to negative things that do not enrich us or make us happy; the only thing they do is silence our truth.

3. The good. This is what encourages you and contributes positively to your life. It reminds you of who you are, makes you “whole”, and allows you to move forward in life. Of course, you will have hardships and limitations when choosing what’s good, but that complements your life and encourages you to live fully.

In life you will have to make a pause and take a good look at what you want for yourself and how you want to continue to live your life.  Look at what does not do you good and does not help you to be fully you, and to fulfil God’s will for your life. Today, discern which things are good for you and encourage you to live your life in God’s path.

Always remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
