Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 13, 36-43
Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house.
His disciples approached him and said,
“Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”
He said in reply, “He who sows good seed is the Son of Man,
the field is the world, the good seed the children of the Kingdom.
The weeds are the children of the Evil One,
and the enemy who sows them is the Devil.
The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire,
so will it be at the end of the age.
The Son of Man will send his angels,
and they will collect out of his Kingdom
all who cause others to sin and all evildoers.
They will throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.
Then the righteous will shine like the sun
in the Kingdom of their Father.
Whoever has ears ought to hear.”
Lord, explain to us!
1. Went into the house. The evangelist shows us Jesus’s human side by talking about the place where He rests with his family and friends and shares time with them. This is something we cannot lose, time to share with our loved ones. We should disconnect from our accelerated life. When we get home, we continue to work, clean, do laundry, and so on. We should get together with our family and spend quality time with them. Have a cup of tea or coffee, talk about what’s going on, and share your feelings. It’s a way of explaining life with our testimony.
2. They asked him to explain. Today we also ask Jesus to explain to us the things in life that we do not understand. We don’t understand why good people who work for others are often destroyed, why good people often leave this world too soon, and why there is so much injustice in the world. There are so many things that we don’t understand, but someday we will sit down with Jesus and He will explain everything to us, that is for sure.
3. The seed. Today, look at your life and take a look at the type of seed there is in your heart. Look at what motivates you to live, what makes you want to serve others, and what it is that identifies you and makes you give good fruits to others. You, and only you, know what you can give and do in others. There are many who need to be satiated by your fruits, by the seed that you have and that you have worked on over time.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
