Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 1, 47-51
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,
“Here is a true child of Israel.
There is no duplicity in him.”
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”
Nathanael answered him,
“Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Do you believe
because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?
You will see greater things than this.”
And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
you will see heaven opened
and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
The Archangels, great messengers
1. St. Michael. He is the Holy Archangel who protects us from evil, that is why we turn to him when we are faced with the power of evil. So many people go to healers, magic, or other things like that; may St. Michael the Archangel shield us from all that. Especially, may he keep all evil away from us. Remember, the devil is very cunning, but don’t worry, St. Michael already knows his tricks.
2. St. Gabriel. Turn to him when you need to announce an important message and you don’t know how to do it or when you don’t know how to face a situation. Pray to St. Gabriel when you have to confront those moments. He has a lot of experience in this, just remember how he announced to Mary that she would be the mother of God.
3. St. Raphael. He is “God’s medicine”. Turn to him when you are sick and when you have to face an important decision regarding your health; for example, whether you should have an operation or not. He has already helped many people curing their blindness, so you can ask him to help you to live your life with integrity.
May the Archangels take care of us so that, together with them we may be able to have a celebration in heaven, as St. John Bosco liked to say.
