Luke 12, 13-21

Greed impoverishes you

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 12, 13-21

Someone in the crowd said to Jesus,
“Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.”
He replied to him,
“Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?”
Then he said to the crowd,
“Take care to guard against all greed,
for though one may be rich,
one’s life does not consist of possessions.”

Then he told them a parable.
“There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
He asked himself, ‘What shall I do,
for I do not have space to store my harvest?’
And he said, ‘This is what I shall do:
I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones.
There I shall store all my grain and other goods
and I shall say to myself, “Now as for you,
you have so many good things stored up for many years,
rest, eat, drink, be merry!”‘
But God said to him,
‘You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you;
and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?’
Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself
but is not rich in what matters to God.”

Greed impoverishes you

1) Sharing. Those who do not know how to share are poor. It is important to know this, since it is in sharing that one becomes richer in life. When you shut yourself off, the only thing you achieve is to impoverish your soul. I am not only referring to money, but to all aspects of life. I am referring to sharing your knowledge, your experiences, and your ears. Life is made to share and get richer with others and not from others.

2) Nothing is certain. There are people who seem to be driven only by their wallets, but I assure you that I have met people with wads of greenbacks in their pockets and who were “poor” because they were so sad and lonely that they wanted to buy friendship or companionship. The most precious things cannot be acquired with money. As for material things, I dare say that not everything is certain, you many have money or things today, and tomorrow you may not; one must learn to live life in any circumstance; but mark my words, the love of your son or daughter, the love of your life partner or the guidance of a true friend reach the deepest part of your life, so trust in that.

3) Be prudent. Learn to live life day by day. Money is a means to live but it is not your life, do not negotiate certain things, because if you do, it may cause great bitterness. There are things that money cannot solve or buy, so do not negotiate:

the affection of your children,

moments with your family,

conversation with your wife or husband,

a chat with your best friend,

your dialogue with God,

moments with your parents,

time for yourself…

Do not negotiate these because you will pay a high price if you do.

Never forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
