Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 17, 26-37
Jesus said to his disciples:
“As it was in the days of Noah,
so it will be in the days of the Son of Man;
they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage up to the day
that Noah entered the ark,
and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot:
they were eating, drinking, buying,
selling, planting, building;
on the day when Lot left Sodom,
fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all.
So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
On that day, someone who is on the housetop
and whose belongings are in the house
must not go down to get them,
and likewise one in the field
must not return to what was left behind.
Remember the wife of Lot.
Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it,
but whoever loses it will save it.
I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed;
one will be taken, the other left.
And there will be two women grinding meal together;
one will be taken, the other left.”
They said to him in reply, “Where, Lord?”
He said to them, “Where the body is,
there also the vultures will gather.”
Do not look back
1. Time to change. The year is almost coming to an end. It is time to change and to accept reality. You should not be hard-headed, and you must recognize that there are things in which you have made mistakes. Do not be stubborn with yourself, with your family and with your projects. There are times when you go on and on in the same thing, making the same mistakes, out of pride. Today it would be a good idea for you to analyze your life considering this question: Am I in this situation today because I am stubborn or because it is God’s plan? Take some time to think this over.
2. Time. You know that everything in life has its time, everything has its moment. Take a look at your life in order to discern the things that you used to do and see what may not be right for you anymore. Carefully consider the circumstances of your life. There are times when everything will seem fine, and others when everything seems to go wrong. There are times when you will be doing well, and others when you will be flat broke. As St. Paul would say “In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of living in abundance and of being in need” (Philippians 4, 12). Remember that life is dynamic, so learn to move ahead.
3. Do not look back. Lot is an example. Do not keep looking back at the blows you have suffered. Life goes on and you have to move ahead. Do not forget about your goals and where you want to go. Do not let go of those dreams and hopes you have and the projects you have thought for your life. The only thing you will never achieve is what you don’t attempt. Try to look at life with a forward vision, not focusing on the past, and on people who have beaten you. Keep going!
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
