Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 25, 31-46
Jesus said to his disciples:
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory,
and all the angels with him,
he will sit upon his glorious throne,
and all the nations will be assembled before him.
And he will separate them one from another,
as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the king will say to those on his right,
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father.
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me drink,
a stranger and you welcomed me,
naked and you clothed me,
ill and you cared for me,
in prison and you visited me.’
Then the righteous will answer him and say,
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,
or thirsty and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you,
or naked and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’
And the king will say to them in reply,
‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did
for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left,
‘Depart from me, you accursed,
into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
For I was hungry and you gave me no food,
I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
a stranger and you gave me no welcome,
naked and you gave me no clothing,
ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’
Then they will answer and say,
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty
or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison,
and not minister to your needs?’
He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you,
what you did not do for one of these least ones,
you did not do for me.’
And these will go off to eternal punishment,
but the righteous to eternal life.”
Is Jesus the king of your life?
1. He will separate. This world was created by God, but He has given each one of us the freedom to make our life and our world His or not. We are the ones who make the decision as to who reigns in our life, and we are faced with that decision at every moment. God wants to reign in your heart and in your life and He wants to separate. What does He want to separate? Well, to begin with, what you do out of obligation from what you do out of love. He wants to separate the sorrows of your life from the blessings, so that you do not dwell on all that’s negative. He also wants to separate your failures so that you may understand that life is made up of victories and failures, but that your life is not a failure.
2. Those on the right. Actions are what determine whether we are God’s children. We see God in the tiny details of everyday life, when we have our “supernatural glasses” on to see clearly as God wants us to see. You can say that you are a good goalkeeper, but it is in a football match that you prove your quality. Well, are you a Christian? Your daily actions and gestures towards those around you will show you are walking along God’s path. What you do on earth has divine impact or resonance. Life is short, but it is also a privilege to live it. It is more bountiful if we help others, so do not stop striving to do good every day, even though you might believe that bad people have it better.
3. Those on the left. They are those who are phony, who say one thing and do another, but their actions leave much to be desired. The key to Christian life is seeing Jesus in our brothers and sisters and seeing the work of God in our life. Christ became incarnate for us to embody Christianity in this world. We want Christ to live in many hearts, to reign because his kingdom is one of peace. Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ!
Remember that something good is on the way!
May God Almighty bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
