Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 1, 35-42

John was standing with two of his disciples,
and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,
“What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” — which translated means Teacher —,
“where are you staying?”
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”
So they went and saw where Jesus was staying,
and they stayed with him that day.
It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,
was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him,
“We have found the Messiah” — which is translated Christ —.
Then he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said,
“You are Simon the son of John;
you will be called Cephas” — which is translated Peter.

Finding Jesus

1. What are you looking for? Today, Jesus is asking you this same question. What do you want for your life and where are you aiming towards? In this respect you must be firm and clear with yourself, otherwise this uncertainty may lead you to forget who you are and what you want. You might even  be waiting for orders from others about what you should do instead of deciding and doing things for your own life. Also, beware of narcissism (looking at yourself too much) because it can confuse you and make you cling on to someone or something unnecessarily. Ask yourself again and think what you want for your life, what you are looking for.

2. They stayed. When Jesus appears in your life, you stay with Him. Meeting Jesus marks you very deeply. Imagine how deeply touched the disciples were that they even recorded the time they’d met Jesus. Meeting Jesus is the most beautiful thing that can happen to you in your life. And you never forget that.

3. The name. Jesus changes Simon’s name to Cephas, translated as Peter and meaning rock or stone. Today Jesus also asks you to be a rock in the midst of this ever-changing, light world. God asks you to be firm in your faith and not to be afraid. He chose you!

Don’t forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
