Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1, 21-28
Then they came to Capernaum,
and on the sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and taught.
The people were astonished at his teaching,
for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.
In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit;
he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
Jesus rebuked him and said,
“Quiet! Come out of him!”
The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him.
All were amazed and asked one another,
“What is this?
A new teaching with authority.
He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.”
His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.
Teach with authority
1. Be a prophet. From the moment of your baptism, you are called upon to be a prophet, to announce and to testify. Announcement and testimony go together. Many devote themselves to denounce rather than announce and they become permanent pessimists. But there are also announcers that do not give testimony because they are afraid to be judged by others. God calls you to announce and live in truth.
2. Impure spirit. Today, many people are tormented by problems. This is a list of possible problems:
a) Economic torment – money, you cannot make ends meet. You are thinking about obtaining a loan because your credit card is maxed out. You are tormented because people depend on you, and you must pay your debts.
b) Physical torment, when an illness life-limiting since there is little to do against the unknown. The fact that we must depend on others is also a factor that burdens you.
c) Psychological torment, when your mind does not give you peace because you are dragged down by the past or worried about the future.
d) Spiritual torment when you do not feel the presence of God in your life and cannot find Him or talk to Him.
3. Authority. Jesus is the authority since He is always leading us with His example and is committed to healing. He is always with us and supporting our dignity. We must respect others and they will respect us. Respect is a key aspect of authority. As Christians, we must work towards respecting one another and not let our daily torments lead our lives.
