Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 16, 29-33
The disciples said to Jesus,
“Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech.
Now we realize that you know everything
and that you do not need to have anyone question you.
Because of this we believe that you came from God.”
Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now?
Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived
when each of you will be scattered to his own home
and you will leave me alone.
But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I have told you this so that you might have peace in me.
In the world you will have trouble,
but take courage, I have conquered the world.”
Awaiting the strength of the Spirit
1. Talk plainly. Clarity is basic in life, but we all go through moments in life when it seems that we do not understand how to go on. You must learn to be patient because everything comes in its own time. Don’t rush and don’t get carried away. As long as you are clear about what you feel, who you are and what you think, everything else can be adjusted. Ask the Holy Spirit for strength to be clear, even if many say you should change your essence for the sake of convenience. Be clear about yourself and God, the rest can be adapted.
2. Scattered. Perhaps it’s a little sad to say, but the truth is that in the hard moments of your life not everyone remains with you. There are people who disappear from your life in difficult times; that’s what happened to Jesus. When you are condemned and attacked, there is yet another wound which appears, and that’s loneliness. That’s when you have the option to keep on struggling knowing that God will be at your side, or you can despair and cry, without finding a way out. You know there’s a lot to fight for, so, face things, even if you’re alone. Because you’ll never really be alone, God is with you and many people are praying for you.
3. Conquered. It’s great to know that, in the face of insult, injustice and lies, God is with you, and you can see the way forward. Have hope because you are going to come through this; don’t give up! God does not let go of your hand, and you have a lot to give. Believe in yourself and go on. Don’t listen to so many prophets of calamities that are around you, always saying negative things. Listen to God who’s your hope because He assures you that He has conquered. So, you keep going.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
May God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
