Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 16, 15-20
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Go into the whole world
and proclaim the gospel to every creature.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;
whoever does not believe will be condemned.
These signs will accompany those who believe:
in my name they will drive out demons,
they will speak new languages.
They will pick up serpents with their hands,
and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.
They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them,
was taken up into heaven
and took his seat at the right hand of God.
But they went forth and preached everywhere,
while the Lord worked with them
and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.
Our eyes on heaven
1. Our feet on the ground. As Christians, you and I know that extremes are bad. We are called to live simply, to be ‘normal’, with our feet on the ground. We cannot be “crazy” Christians that live in an unreal world. We must be aware of reality and also insert ourselves in it, we must live in the world, like normal people.
2. Our eyes on heaven. We can’t be so ‘realistic’ to the extreme of becoming pessimistic, canceling God’s work in us and in others. ‘Our eyes up above’ means that there is always hope for the person who believes, knowing that you must give everything to God, including the obstacles that you are unable to overcome on your own. Remember that ‘you do what you can, and God will do what you can’t’.
3. Go out and proclaim. We can’t be a ‘mummified’ Church, a wrinkled and inactive Church. We have to go out and proclaim without looking at whether a person prays in Latin or with drums. I mean, we must all go out and announce. We must be united and respect all gifts and charisms of the Holy Spirit in the Church and serve the Church as she deserves to be served. United to the Pope, Peter’s successor, let’s make this world more beautiful and let’s bring peace with our testimony.
Never forget that something good is on the way.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
