Matthew 6, 24-34 FB

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 6, 24-34

Jesus said to his disciples:
“No one can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink,
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds in the sky;
they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns,
yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are not you more important than they?
Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
Why are you anxious about clothes?
Learn from the way the wild flowers grow.
They do not work or spin.
But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor
was clothed like one of them.
If God so clothes the grass of the field,
which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow,
will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’
or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’
All these things the pagans seek.
Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given you besides.
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”

Don’t worry

  1. God or money. Money is complicated. It is very cunning because without you realizing, it takes hold of you and carries you along. I call it the ‘credit card syndrome.’ At the beginning it helps and pleases and even speeds things up. And still, if you start abusing, you get into deep trouble and you can’t get out. Something like that happens with those who are too fond of money, when they see that their pockets are full, they start to like it, and that leads them to fall into a vicious circle of consumption. They live for it, and they even pray to God for money. In short, they even want God to be a financial company.
  2. You are valuable. It’s so good to remember this today! You are very valuable to God; every life is very valuable to God. Today Jesus reminds you that you are worth a lot. Don’t let yourself be trampled on by anything or anyone, don’t let anyone take your hopes away from you. Jesus put himself on the line for you and wants you to play your best game and score the goal of your life. So, don’t let the ball be taken away from you and play till the last moment of your life.
  3. Every day. Every single day has its own joys and worries. Every day there will be both beautiful and difficult things, and you must strive to grow and succeed. Every day and in every decision you make, you can achieve greatness or misery. But you must walk along God’s path and not simply drag along. Courage and strength! God loves you and won’t ever stop showing you his love.

Remember something good is on the way.

God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
