Matthew 6, 19-23

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 6, 19-23

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal.
But store up treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

“The lamp of the body is the eye.
If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light;
but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness.
And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.”

Buy eternity

  1. Do not store. Today Jesus repeats that your worries should not always revolve around material things. The credit card limit, payment of bills, whether or not to take out a loan, among so many other issues, are always going around in your head. In short, when there are only numbers and buying and selling in your head, that’s when you get dizzy, and your life is only about working to pay and not to enjoy. Perhaps money or material things have led you to forget real happiness.
  2. Your heart. What a beautiful question Jesus asks: where is your heart? Ask yourself where your heart is and what satisfies it. Perhaps today you have to take your time and listen to your heart for a while.
  3. Your eye. Is it healthy? Here’s the key: Are you looking at life right? This is the core of your life’s struggle. If you are clear about who you are and what you want, and you see it clearly, then go ahead. Slow down a little, be silent and listen to yourself.

Never forget that something good is on the way.

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
