Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7, 21-29
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Many will say to me on that day,
‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?
Did we not drive out demons in your name?
Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’
Then I will declare to them solemnly,
‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
When Jesus finished these words,
the crowds were astonished at his teaching,
for he taught them as one having authority,
and not as their scribes
Be a firm rock
1. Fulfill. The essence of our life is to fulfill God’s will. That’s where the axis is, that’s the center around which your life develops. You might do many good things, you may even be the owner of the charitable society, but if you don’t do God’s will, then it’s useless. The essence of life to achieve happiness is to do God’s will, which is what will lead you to self-fulfillment.
2. Wise. Being wise is being aware of where your foundations are, understanding that the pillars of your life must lie on what your family taught you, on the values that were transmitted to you since you were a child by your parents, grandparents, family, teachers, among other people. Everything you were taught when you were a child is your strength when you grow up. Be grateful to those who made you a respectable person because you are educated and worthy of respect.
3. Sand. It stands for everything that doesn’t remain, for what’s fleeting, for what’s momentary. Don’t let your life be only transitory moments of joy and nothing else. Your life must be firm, and firmness is given in your roots, not in those crazy things that appear in your mind at certain moments. Don’t let the winds of sentimentalism or consumerism make you throw away what a whole family has built in you.
Remember something good is on the way!
God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
