Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6, 7-13
Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by twoand gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journeybut a walking stick—no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandalsbut not a second tunic. He said to them,“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feetin testimony against them.” So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.
Jesus sent them out
1. Jesus called them. One of the problems you and I have is that there are times when we don’t know what we want for our lives. It’s like you’re just there, not knowing what to do. Then you start doing things so as not to waste time, while you think about what your goal in life might be. At some point everything is great and beautiful, but the problem comes when time goes by, and you still haven’t made up your mind. That’s when you must remember that God’s calling is unique for every person and that He has chosen you to walk along with others, not alone – together. Your life is very important, so think hard about your mission and remember that whatever you do is for everyone.
2. Nothing extra. Your life does not depend on objects or goods or riches, but on carrying out your mission in this world. That requires you to be you and to know who you are. What Jesus said to the Apostles is as if today He said to you, “you don’t need wi-fi, nor tablets, nor cell phones.” You should remember that having things does not make you a better person. Things can give you momentary security, but you must be more self-confident. You must be sure of your life and the decisions you make. Don’t look for things that tie your life down. Learn to live your life with what you are and what you have.
3. Stay there. If you are true to yourself, if you know how to be authentic and lead your life with honesty, there will always be someone who will lend you a hand. Ask God for the grace of surrounding yourself with good people, people who love you for who you are and not for what you have. Learn to discern who’s your friend. One can become obsessed with certain people and maybe they are not the right company; but in hard and key moments those who are true friends will turn up to help you. Learn to share life with those who contribute to your life and teach you how to live.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
