Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 10, 34; 11, 1
Jesus said to his Apostles:
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth.
I have come to bring not peace but the sword.
For I have come to set
a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
and one’s enemies will be those of his household.
“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me,
and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
and whoever does not take up his cross
and follow after me is not worthy of me.
Whoever finds his life will lose it,
and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
“Whoever receives you receives me,
and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet
will receive a prophet’s reward,
and whoever receives a righteous man
because he is righteous
will receive a righteous man’s reward.
And whoever gives only a cup of cold water
to one of these little ones to drink
because he is a disciple–
amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.”
When Jesus finished giving these commands to his Twelve disciples,
he went away from that place to teach and to preach in their towns.
Be worthy of God
1. Confront. I’m referring to an inner, personal confrontation, not an institutional one. It is the inner struggle that one has between what one wants and what God wants. It is a confrontation with yourself, because you sometimes doubt, and have a divided heart. There are times when you want two things that are not compatible. That’s when you need to take a good look, take your time to see everything, and search for God’s will, you must look for what God wants for your life.
2. Renounce. That refers to what you have to give up, to let go. Learn not to be so narcissistic and not get so full of everything around you. “Everything is allowed but not everything is convenient and good for you”. That’s what your heart has to work on: renunciation. You can’t have everything in life. You might fall into letting yourself be led solely by your feelings thus making a lot of mistakes. Or you may become cold and turn into a calculating person. Always seek God’s voice and look inside yourself to find his will, letting go of your whims and whatever doesn’t lead to your true happiness.
3. Dignity. When you make a life choice, and you’re sure of it, it’s worth making the effort to grow in that dignity that God has given you as a true child of his. Place all your faith in what you have chosen and follow your path, placing your trust in God. If you have really thought about it and prayed about it, you will find peace. Be strong and brave to renounce to everything that doesn’t contribute to your life choice, because that’s what will give you dignity and peace. If it doesn’t give you dignity and it doesn’t give you peace, it doesn’t come from God.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you, in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
