Matthew 11,20-24 FB

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 11, 20-24

Jesus began to reproach the towns
where most of his mighty deeds had been done,
since they had not repented.
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable
for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum:

Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the nether world.

For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom,
it would have remained until this day.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

Repentance and Conversion

  1. Converted. The word “convert” comes from Latin and means “to turn around; to transform.” Conversion is also related to the Greek word “metanoia”, which refers to a transformative change of heart, especially a spiritual conversion. You and I need to change, to make a turn in life. You cannot be the same as you’ve always been because life itself is dynamic. St. Paul teaches that “whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall”. In the Church, relationships deepen when people are real, when we come clean. We all struggle with sin, of the flesh or of the spirit. The Holy Spirit only flows in transparency. So, when we decide to be open and honest and stop pretending, only then can we be filled with the Spirit of God. Here it does not matter if you fall but what you do when you get up after a fall. You must be sincere and strive to make that change and to let go of what does not lead you to anything good.
  2. Miracles. Your life is a miracle; your own day is full of miracles! There are so many things that happen daily and appear in your life that come from God, but you may not recognize them because they are tiny, simple things. There are miracles in the simplicity of the day. You must have the ability to look at your life knowing that there’s always an opportunity to change and a new opportunity to live. Today, try to become aware of all the miracles in your life. And then, take a moment to notice what it is you have to change, what you must let go of. Tell me today, what leads you to say to yourself: “I have to change”?
  3. Assume. Sometimes you don’t notice everything that God is giving you in your life, so that you can enjoy it; instead, you keep on looking at what you lack or what you don’t have. Learn to look at what you have and stop crying over what you don’t. Take courage to make decisions for your life and understand that everything involves a risk, nothing is achieved without taking risks. You don’t grow without mistakes, but the key is to learn from them, and that will allow you to grow. Ask God to give you the strength to move forward and to decide, but above all, to be able to accept. As St Gregory said, “that which is not assumed is not healed”. Redeem your life and stop crucifying yourself.

Never forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
