Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 21, 5-11
While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, “All that you see here–
the days will come when there will not be left
a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”
Then they asked him,
“Teacher, when will this happen?
And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?”
He answered,
“See that you not be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying,
‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’
Do not follow them!
When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first,
but it will not immediately be the end.”
Then he said to them,
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues
from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.”
There will be signs
1. Costly stones. Today, let’s discuss one of our most common weaknesses: living only for the sake of appearances. We must fight against our desire to impress others. There are people that go around in life doing things to make an impression on others, they find refuge in a habit, or certain ceremonial behavior, or even clothing so as to pretend, to give a false appearance of being or possessing. They like to live off appearances and they have no substance. Of course, they can have a superficial impact, but there will be no depth because they do things only to be recognized or praised.
2. Stability. If God is at the center of your life, if you seek refuge in Him, you will find stability, you will be certain that your life has a deeper meaning . You reach stability when you see who and what you can count on. Stability in life means knowing who you are and not depending on what others say. God is always with you and must guide your life. He knows your strengths and weaknesses, so work within yourself to find Jesus. Jesus is your stability.
3) The second coming. There will always be painful and tragic events and catastrophes, moments of pain and anguish, moments when we must make tough decisions, but our faith leads us to God and we must find comfort in him. Let’s not fear what we must go through, God is with us and we must remember that in the end we will see Him face to face. We can overcome anything because He is always at our side, and we know that Heaven is our goal.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
