Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 15, 29-37

At that time:
Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee,
went up on the mountain, and sat down there.
Great crowds came to him,
having with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute,
and many others.
They placed them at his feet, and he cured them.
The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking,
the deformed made whole,
the lame walking,
and the blind able to see,
and they glorified the God of Israel.

Jesus summoned his disciples and said,
“My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,
for they have been with me now for three days
and have nothing to eat.
I do not want to send them away hungry,
for fear they may collapse on the way.”
The disciples said to him,
“Where could we ever get enough bread in this deserted place
to satisfy such a crowd?”
Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?”
“Seven,” they replied, “and a few fish.”
He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Then he took the seven loaves and the fish,
gave thanks, broke the loaves,
and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.
They all ate and were satisfied.
They picked up the fragments left over–seven baskets full.

1. Went up on the mountain. Coming out of oneself also implies looking from above. By that I mean looking clearly at the whole picture and not only at a part of it. There are times when you focus on the half-empty glass, turning into a negativist or denialist, and denying reality. Others constantly look at the half-full glass; they’re very positive, but they believe that theirs is the only possible reality. Learn to look at the whole picture, discern what’s right and what’s wrong. Build your life story aware of that whole picture you’ve been able to see.

2. Heal. Many people around you are blind and deaf, people who do not walk along in life and are waiting for help. As Christians, we’re called to give light to people in need and to relieve their pain. Of course it’s not easy; it’s a challenge. Learn to walk along with those who can’t, learn to see life with those who can’t see clearly, so that you can guide them. The only thing that cures all the pain caused by the world is peace in your heart. You can help others, even sitting with someone in need and really listening to them. So, keep on alleviating the pain of others; many people are suffering today.

3. Feed. We all have capabilities. We also have our life story and experience. Don’t ignore the people or situations around you and look for solutions to help them. Don’t let indifference dwell in you and accept responsibility for comforting people who are suffering and being close to them. There’s nothing more beautiful in life than to be able to satiate the needs of others. If you feel empty, seek the One who can fill your heart with His peace. Be happy; that implies giving oneself: “happiness lies more in giving than in receiving”.

Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
