Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9, 35–10, 1, 5a, 6-8
Jesus went around to all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues,
proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,
and curing every disease and illness.
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them
because they were troubled and abandoned,
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.”
Then he summoned his Twelve disciples
and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness.
Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus,
“Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.”
Moved with pity
1. Went around. It’s important not to remain static in life. Start doing things for your life. Leave monotony aside, because always doing the same thing makes your life weary, slow, still. Find your motivation and break structures, begin actively doing things for yourself. Whether you go to painting or singing lessons, or you go to the parish and help out or go to the evangelical church (I know there are several evangelical brothers and sisters who listen to these meditations), the issue is that you must stop letting your life go by without accomplishing anything for yourself and for others. Jesus was on the move; He was looking for those who needed him; you must do likewise.
2. At the sight. It’s also good for you to see that the life of the people around you isn’t like yours. You often complain about what you lack and what you don’t have, but there are people who are going through a difficult time, even people who are very close to you. Look at others with compassion and learn to see that others bear heavy crosses. You can’t go on complaining because you don’t like the stew on your plate, when there are others who have nothing on their table.
3. The laborers are few. We must pray that there will be more people who want to follow Christ. There are few priests, and we need your prayers so that Jesus may continue to touch hearts and there might be many more announcers of the Gospel. Today let’s pray a Hail Mary for the young people who feel a call from God.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
