Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6, 17, 20-26
Jesus came down with the Twelve
and stood on a stretch of level ground
with a great crowd of his disciples
and a large number of the people
from all Judea and Jerusalem
and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon.
And raising his eyes toward his disciples he said:
“Blessed are you who are poor,
for the kingdom of God is yours.
Blessed are you who are now hungry,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who are now weeping,
for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you,
and when they exclude and insult you,
and denounce your name as evil
on account of the Son of Man.
Rejoice and leap for joy on that day!
Behold, your reward will be great in heaven.
For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.
But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.
Woe to you who are filled now,
for you will be hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will grieve and weep.
Woe to you when all speak well of you,
for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.”
The Beatitudes
1. He came down from the mountain. What Jesus does and says comes from his intimate connection with God, the Father. Today, I would like to insist that you pray at the beginning of the day, when you open your eyes, offer to God all your thoughts, all your words and all your deeds of the day. It is important to be able to come down to reality and sanctify yourself in the presence of others. God works with you in others.
2. He raised his eyes. Today, Jesus reminds you that every child of his is called to live in faith and charity. Our life is marked by struggles, for it is true that we will encounter some blows on the way, but trust God and live with enthusiasm, give yourself to others and give yourself entirely. I would also like you to think today about those people who have made your life complicated at one time or another, and ask yourself, “Have I already forgiven that person? Can I say that I am over that situation that hurt me?”
3. They speak well. God reminds us that not everyone will speak well of you and that you are not called to do things so that everyone will congratulate you. Christians are called to live in authenticity and show ourselves just as we are. Being authentic and being evangelized equals being blessed.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
