The path of change

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12, 1-11

Six days before Passover Jesus came to Bethany,
where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.
They gave a dinner for him there, and Martha served,
while Lazarus was one of those reclining at table with him.
Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil
made from genuine aromatic nard
and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair;
the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
Then Judas the Iscariot, one of his disciples,
and the one who would betray him, said,
“Why was this oil not sold for three hundred days’ wages
and given to the poor?”
He said this not because he cared about the poor
but because he was a thief and held the money bag
and used to steal the contributions.
So Jesus said, “Leave her alone.
Let her keep this for the day of my burial.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”

The large crowd of the Jews found out that he was there and came,
not only because of him, but also to see Lazarus,
whom he had raised from the dead.
And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too,
because many of the Jews were turning away
and believing in Jesus because of him.

The path of change

1. Mary. We see a woman who shows her change and her gratitude. Whoever manages to change in life thanks Life, which is Jesus, for that change. It’s part of Holy Week to thank God for the change in you, as you face your struggles. Thank God for these battles you are winning, which I believe are many.

2. Judas. There are people who are toxic over money, like Judas. He cares more about the cost of the perfume than the person. There are people who are always scheming over money. Money is constantly on their lips; it may even affect the relationship between spouses. For example, one of them may say: “I love you” and the other might reply “me too”, but at the same time he or she may add: “you don’t know how much the meat has gone up, we have to pay for the groceries, and oh! I don’t think there will be any vacations this year.” In the end, that “I love you” ended up being drowned in so many other words that it lost all its strength. Try to work so that money doesn’t drown the strength of your action, your attitude and your inner self.

3. Receive Jesus this Holy Week. Let Jesus come into your soul so that He can take you entirely. He can change you; you can see that change and be grateful for it. You can give a lot to others, grow strong. Remember that life is beautiful, but it’s also short.

Have a good Holy week. Don’t forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
