John 7, 1-2, 10, 25-30

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 7, 1-2, 10, 25-30

Jesus moved about within Galilee;
he did not wish to travel in Judea,
because the Jews were trying to kill him.
But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.

But when his brothers had gone up to the feast,
he himself also went up, not openly but as it were in secret.

Some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said,
“Is he not the one they are trying to kill?
And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him.
Could the authorities have realized that he is the Christ?
But we know where he is from.
When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.”
So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said,
“You know me and also know where I am from.
Yet I did not come on my own,
but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”
So they tried to arrest him,
but no one laid a hand upon him,
because his hour had not yet come.

God is always present

1. He did not want to go to Judea. You must be prudent and therefore don’t go places where you know that they can harm you, either physically or mentally. It’s preferable that you go somewhere else or another way.  Jesus shows you that you shouldn’t be around people who don’t want to see you well and who will try to destroy you. Be aware and be prudent – aware that there are people who want to pull you down, and prudent so as not to go to those places where there are people who don’t like you, because they may end up crucifying you.

2. In secret. Of course, whenever you do good, there will always be people who will envy you and even defame you. Remember that those who defamed and killed Jesus were close and religious people, so don’t be surprised if you’re criticized and destroyed by those closest to you and even by those who go to Mass with you every day. The key is that you continue to do things with conviction, but also with prudence.

3. His hour. Everything has its time and moment. Learn to respect the times in your life. Anxiety kills and you can harm yourself by being anxious. Remember that time is wise, but you must learn to wait because everything comes in due time.

Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
