Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 8, 12-20
Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have
the light of life.” So the Pharisees said to him, “You testify
on your own behalf, so your testimony cannot be verified.”
Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I do testify
on my own behalf, my testimony can be verified,
because I know where I came from and where I am going.
But you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
You judge by appearances, but I do not judge anyone.
And even if I should judge, my judgement is valid,
because I am not alone, but it is I and the Father
who sent me. Even in your law it is written
that the testimony of two men can be verified.
I testify on my behalf and so does the Father who sent me.”
So they said to him, “Where is your father?” Jesus answered,
“You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me,
you would know my Father also.” He spoke these words
while teaching in the treasury in the temple area.
But no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
Truth
1. The light. Jesus invites you to let light into your heart on this Lenten journey. Seek that light within you that gives you peace. Don’t fall into darkness and don’t get used to living in lies. It’s easy to live in a lie and leave aside the truth. Seek the presence of Jesus, who satiates your inner self and leads you to reencounter Him.
2. Testimony. When you have an experience of Christ, you are called to give testimony of Jesus. In this world we need to give more testimony, in our daily life, in our work, in politics, in society, everywhere, behaving with honesty and simplicity. God needs us. He needs us to proclaim him, He needs us because today the world has forgotten about Jesus.
3. Get to know. Take advantage of this time to get to know more about your faith and prepare your heart to find God. Visit the Blessed Sacrament, read the Gospel or books to strengthen your spiritual life, or talk to someone about the things of God. There are many possibilities, and even more so in these times on the Internet. Visit the Digital Catholic Missionaries website where you’ll find many articles, prayers, Stations of the Cross, videos that will help you to know more about God and get nearer to him. Plan this time. Plan how you will live Holy Week, not to go on vacation, but to go deep into your soul and find Jesus. And take courage, soon Jesus will rise within you.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and keep you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
