Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 14, 27-31a
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
You heard me tell you,
‘I am going away and I will come back to you.’
If you loved me,
you would rejoice that I am going to the Father;
for the Father is greater than I.
And now I have told you this before it happens,
so that when it happens you may believe.
I will no longer speak much with you,
for the ruler of the world is coming.
He has no power over me,
but the world must know that I love the Father
and that I do just as the Father has commanded me.”
Today’s gospel is encouraging
1. Peace. That’s what you and I are looking for; nothing can be achieved without inner peace. That peace that Jesus gives you is profound and allows you to understand that you’re in his hands. The peace that God gives doesn’t instantly solve all your problems but comforts you and strengthens you so you can face them. We all have difficulties and temptations; the important thing is how we face them. And that inner peace can only be found in prayer. The peace that God grants you reminds you that God is in you. Pray to God and ask him to help you.
2. Do not worry or fear. These are two important words. We should always remember that God asks us not to worry and not to fear. Learn to wait and have patience. Don’t be afraid. It’s true that life hits us hard sometimes and we can lose control and that we’re afraid of making mistakes because of rash decisions we make. Don’t be afraid because He is with you.
3. God’s mercy. That’s God’s greatness! Remember that God conquers everything. No matter how great the temptation, don’t give in, because God is with you.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
