Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 15, 18- 21
Jesus said to his disciples:
“If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.
If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own;
but because you do not belong to the world,
and I have chosen you out of the world,
the world hates you.
Remember the word I spoke to you,
‘No slave is greater than his master.’
If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.
If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
And they will do all these things to you on account of my name,
because they do not know the one who sent me.”
You do not belong to the world
1. The world hated me first. Being a Christian implies living like Christ and accepting the confrontations that you will encounter. It means facing situations and not hiding from them. You can’t live life as if you were dependent on other people. Learn to make up your mind and to make decisions. That will lead many people to love you and others to reject you.
2. The world. You can’t live as a photocopy of others and much less leading your life according to the criteria of others. Your own life implies accepting Christ’s principles together with your own. But of course, by being authentic, many will make you feel the weight of living with integrity and honesty.
3. They don’t know. Your life has been marked by principles your family has taught you. You are the sum of stories (what your father, your mother, your grandfather, your grandmother have lived) and you are also essentially a child of God. Learn to value yourself as you are. Don’t seek to belong to a group that may have promised you a VIP pass. Live a Christian life based on your principles, those which Christ has given you through his love.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
