Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 16, 20-23a
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn,
while the world rejoices;
you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.
When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived;
but when she has given birth to a child,
she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy
that a child has been born into the world.
So you also are now in anguish.
But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice,
and no one will take your joy away from you.
On that day you will not question me about anything.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.”

- Weep. Tears refer to the essence of feelings. Tears are the expression of what we feel, the living manifestation of what goes through your heart, whether sadness or joy. Tears can indicate feelings of God’s absence or the hardships and pains we face when it seems He is not there.
- Joy. Joy uplifts our heart and is the result of the peace we’ve achieved. Don’t ever abandon prayer, never, because it’ll help you to attain the peace and joy that only God can give you and which is profound and fulfilling. It’s the joy that comes from enjoying the presence and greatness of God.
- Time. The transition from sorrow to joy can be achieved through prayer and the sacraments, but the key is also time. Time heals, soothes, strengthens, and reveals truth. That’s why we must learn not to despair and to know how to wait. Trust in this process and remain patient. Time leads you to truth and God leads you to justice. Don’t be afraid; time also leads you to lose your fear.
Don’t forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
