Matthew 5, 17-19

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5, 17-19

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,
until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

Fulfillment

1. Abolish. We all tend to break rules, and there are situations that will lead us to break them. The problem is when you don’t accept your limits and always seek to break rules, because you don’t accept conditions being imposed on you, and you become capricious. But life has rules and limits, and they can’t be broken, and if they are, it leads to consequences and pain. The key is to either follow the rules or accept the consequences of breaking them if you do so.

2. Lesser in the kingdom of heaven. Pride and arrogance are two elements that revolve within you and me and make us believe we can do everything, and that no one should demand anything from us. When pride and arrogance creep in, our lives are turned upside down, because you make everything about yourself, and you become the parameter for everyone and everything.

3. The greatest. Humility always helps you build and teach, because it’s the ability to recognize what you can and can’t do and accept that there are rules that must be respected. You can’t have it all, and you can’t center everything on yourself. A healthy mind and a healthy spirit know how to accept what they can and can’t do, and they know that not everything depends on them.

Never forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
