Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5, 38-42
Jesus said to his disciples:
“You have heard that it was said,
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil.
When someone strikes you on your right cheek,
turn the other one to him as well.
If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic,
hand him your cloak as well.
Should anyone press you into service for one mile,
go with him for two miles.
Give to the one who asks of you,
and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow.”
Life isn’t about revenge
1. Don’t confront. It’s crucial to remember what Jesus said to his disciples, “to one who is evil.” Today, you need to remember not to allow anything into your life that brings bitterness and pain. Instead, keep doing good. Strive to ensure that the poison they try to put in your life doesn’t remain, and that you can get rid of it as quickly as possible. If you confront those who do evil, the poison lingers. If you keep focusing on your life’s goal and working for it, then the poison disappears.
2. Give to the one who asks of you. You shouldn’t close your heart to anything or anyone. Now, be smart—you can’t just give yourself to anyone. But don’t stop being generous, either. Whether it’s with material things or spiritual support, you should always give. It’s important to be generous, to share your life with others. Do good without looking at whom.
3. Don’t turn your back. Your feelings and your character are revealed on your face. Just by looking at the expression on your face we can notice if you’re doing well or not, if you’re struggling, if you’re sad or happy. Don’t turn your back on anyone; don’t be indifferent to anyone. Show everyone your face so they can know who you are, and don’t turn away from them. Be genuine. Don’t ignore others or be indifferent to them.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
