Luke 9, 28b-36

To be transfigured

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9, 28b-36

Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up a mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.

To be transfigured

1. He took them. We’ve often discussed the importance of solitude, but it’s equally crucial to let your closest friends accompany you. Jesus brought three of his most trusted companions with him—they might not have fully grasped what was happening, but they were there by his side. Don’t isolate yourself. Learn to share your life with those who uplift you and whom you trust. They may not always understand your struggles, but their presence matters. Don’t seek someone who perfectly understands your every thought or caters to your every desire. Instead, find those who stand by you through everything and accept you for who you are. Sharing your life prevents it from feeling incomplete.

2. Fear. Life brings us profound sorrows, but also incredible moments. It’s remarkable how some experiences are simply beyond words, unexplainable, leaving us speechless. Take a moment today to reflect on something that transformed your life: the birth of your child, a dream realized, or the day you met a significant person. You’ll encounter things in life that leave you without words because they’ll leave an indelible mark on your soul.

3. Resurrect. Today, we celebrate the Transfiguration, a symbol of transformation and the supernatural. Let your perspective on life shift today and allow your journey to be elevated. Keep moving forward, confident in God’s strength. Walk with your head held high, knowing that even if you feel like a failure today, God is present. Keep your eyes fixed on what’s above, even if you currently feel lost or out of place. Maintain your resolve even when disappointment strikes. Keep your focus on Heaven, even when you feel like you don’t belong anywhere, because the key is where you direct your gaze. Everything else will eventually fall into place.

Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
