Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 13, 54-58
Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue.
They were astonished and said,
“Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds?
Is he not the carpenter’s son?
Is not his mother named Mary
and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
Are not his sisters all with us?
Where did this man get all this?”
And they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them,
“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place
and in his own house.”
And he did not work many mighty deeds there
because of their lack of faith.
Not many mighty deeds
1. Where? In your life and in mine, there will always be people who question us, and I even dare say that people close to you will judge you and ridicule you. That’s why our life involves working without expecting anything from those close to us. Learn to recognize that you have to act with originality in your life and not with expectations.
2) Stumble. Of course, you’ll also feel torn between those who question you, those who judge or attack you, and those who stand up for you. In those moments, you need to look inward and remember you are a “child of God.” Don’t get discouraged and understand that even when you do a lot of good, many people will still question you and even ask for more.
3) He couldn’t. People are always very demanding. Always. Jesus’s family members and friends were challenging and difficult, and he couldn’t perform many miracles. People demand and require many things of me, too. Your loved ones and family will always make demands on you, and it’s as if something were always missing. But remember, you can’t do everything; it must be a shared effort. Sometimes the failures in your life aren’t due to your own mistakes, but rather to the lack of support or enthusiasm of those close to you.
Remember something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
