Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10, 13-16
Jesus said to them,
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented,
sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the netherworld.’
Whoever listens to you listens to me.
Whoever rejects you rejects me.
And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”
Woe to you!
1. If the mighty deeds. Think about how many things have come into your life, and yet you still haven’t changed. How many opportunities have you been given, and how many are still being given to you? No one knows this better than you and God… And you’re still in the same place, just spinning your wheels, and even lying to yourself. You’ve become numb to life; instead of cutting out whatever holds you back, instead of talking to someone who can help you move forward, you just cover it up. If you need help, find someone. Come on, look at yourself. Don’t lie to yourself anymore! Every day, you must fight to be a little bit better, strive to improve. Don’t settle for mediocrity. I believe in you, and a lot of people believe in you. We know you can overcome whatever hinders your growth, but please, don’t do it for me or for the people who love you—do it for yourself. Because you’re worth it, because you’re important.
2. Whoever listens to you listens to me. You’re a Christian; you carry Jesus with you. I’m not asking you to be a self-righteous person who keeps their hands together, as if praying, and has holy water for breakfast. Today, you and I need to work on bringing words of comfort to others. People are sad and tired. Many times, they can’t find any answers to what they’re going through. How many times have you and I felt that way? We’ve felt that time goes by, and we have nothing to show for it. We live just paying off debt after debt. Come on, you don’t live to pay bills; you live to give life.
3. Reject. Today, you have to be the protagonist of your life and help those around you. Stop trying to blame everything on other people. What you should do is take charge of making the lives of those around you more beautiful. If they reject you, that’s their problem. So, stop and think, what are you doing to make the lives of those around you more beautiful? Think of concrete actions, however tiny they may be. Maybe today you can smile at someone, or not be pessimistic, or serve breakfast at home. Well, figure it out, I’m sure you’ll have more ideas than me, but you have to do something to make life more beautiful.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
