Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 12, 39-48
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be sure of this:
if the master of the house had known the hour
when the thief was coming,
he would not have let his house be broken into.
You also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Then Peter said,
“Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?”
And the Lord replied,
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward
whom the master will put in charge of his servants
to distribute the food allowance at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so.
Truly, I say to you, he will put him
in charge of all his property.
But if that servant says to himself,
‘My master is delayed in coming,’
and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants,
to eat and drink and get drunk,
then that servant’s master will come
on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour
and will punish the servant severely
and assign him a place with the unfaithful.
That servant who knew his master’s will
but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will
shall be beaten severely;
and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will
but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating
shall be beaten only lightly.
Much will be required of the person entrusted with much,
and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.”
Be sure of this
1. The thief. There are people who can rob us of our life, and that’s why we must be aware of the path we choose. It’s important to learn to be cautious and careful in your life. There are “thieves” who only want to possess you and treat you like a trophy. They can destroy your dreams and hopes, sometimes even giving you a blow where you are most vulnerable. Don’t let anyone steal your dreams and plans; don’t allow them to try to manage your decisions or, even less, manipulate your daily journey. Don’t let yourself be robbed, because your life has value, and you are a person of worth.
2. Doing what must be done. Maybe you and I like having things made easier for us, but it’s a completely different thing to not take charge of your life and let someone else decide for you. When others start becoming the main characters in your life, and you stop making choices and decisions, you can fall into a trap of comfort. You let others run your life out of convenience or for a sense of security, and in turn, you get hooked on having others decide for you. Being inactive in your own life, waiting for others to do things for you and your life, can ultimately make you sick and even poison your way of living. Take responsibility for your life and how you live it.
3. Entrusted. You have gifts and abilities that God has given you. Stop believing that you are useless and that you’re good for nothing. Stop thinking that everyone else is successful while everything is going wrong for you. You shape the way you live life, and the attitude you bring to your life is the attitude and conviction you project to others. Today, give yourself the chance to live your life assuming the responsibility for it.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
