Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 12, 49-53
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Division
1. Blaze. As the years go by, you can lose passion for the things you do. In life, you must find the motivation to “blaze”, and I mean to ignite your desire, to be passionate to get things done. Someone who believes gets motivated, and someone who’s motivated becomes passionate, and someone who’s passionate takes action. Therefore, let your faith in Christ motivate you to live, and may you live by motivating yourself and others.
2. Baptism. Never stop immersing yourself in your faith and your beliefs. You are called to contribute to life. It’s through your own experience that you can encourage others and make your contribution. Don’t let circumstances and events reduce your own life to something inconsequential. Instead, let your life be a constant reason for you to do things so that people feel valued, and you value yourself.
3. Division. The “division” that Jesus proposes is about protecting your individuality; you must guard your identity. Don’t let people impose their way of thinking on you, and don’t let your life be narrowed down only to what others think.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
